12 Summer Street Style Favorites

Summer is one of the seasons that scares me. I know people look forward to summer all year, but I love layering, and I love black, leather jackets, and boots and these aren't necessarily associated with summer wear. Fortunately the monochrome look has extended to summer styles, so that makes me a little more excited of what's to come, now all I have to work on is that summer bod. Ya feel me?

Fashion Diaries; Twirling in the Desert

Palm Springs is honestly a photographers dream. From the sand dunes to all the mid century modern homes and exquisite hotels, my eyes just really don't know where to focus first. I love Coachella season because I have an excuse to visit Palm Springs, lounge by the pool, and enjoy the desert heat. If you live in LA and haven't been the drive is only an hour and 40 minutes and worth every penny. At the moment I am obsessed with Kimonos. As many of you know my wardrobe palette is pretty bleek, aka black and white, so I feel like Kimonos are a super inexpensive way of updating what you already have!

What are some of your summer fashion staples?

Coachella 2015: Street Style Inspiration

By this point im sure you already have your outfits ready for Coachella, but for those who leave everything to the last minute here is some major inspiration. I have scoured the internet trying to find not only boho looks, but looks that are true to the persons style (which I find so much more appealing) I hope you get the inspo you need, and whatever you're wearing, remember to have an amazing time, that's all that matters anyway.

6 Coachella Music Festival Tips and Tricks

This will be my 4th year attending Coachella, and all I can say is that I've done it every way possible. The first year I camped, and as challenging as that weekend was (waking up in 90 degree weather in a burning tent only to have to wait in the longest line to shower) it had to be one of my favorite ones. Why? The energy is non-stop, from the moment you wake up til the moment you go to bed there is no Coachella break. If you want to catch as much bands as possible, and experience Coachella for all it is worth this is one of the most satisfying ways to do it, at least once. I will say, after doing it that way once, I knew my old self couldn't handle that again so since then I have been either renting somewhere (AirBNB) or getting a hotel in Palm Springs. The thing with Coachella is there are two kind of people, the ones that are there for the music, and the ones that are there for the parties. It is possible to be there for both of them, but the reality is sometimes you have to choose one over the other. Here are 10 things i've learned to have the best weekend of your life without breaking the bank!
1. The Parties:
This one requires just a little bit of research, or knowing someone, but a quick tip is most of the hotels in palm springs host parties throughout the weekend, (The Saguaro, Ace Hotel, Hard Rock) most of them are either free, or brand sponsored, just be on the lookout for RSVP emails. I know it can be burning hot outside and staying in the pool all day sounds like heaven, but make sure to establish a mental alarm of when you will be heading out to the festival so you don't miss out on your favorite artists.
2. The Food:
My absolute favorite places to eat before heading to the festival are Kings Highway at the Ace Hotel and Circa 59 at the Riviera Hotel. If you want to do a bit of sightseeing in Palm Springs the main road is full of restaurants as well like Ruby's Diner where I had the most amazing vanilla shake!
3. The Art:
Every year Coachella has the most elaborate sculptures, live experiences, and pieces of art. Last year they had this amazing spaceman, a swinging contraption you could walk into with flashing lights (2nd pic) and a lot of other cool little things to explore. Every year I look at the map and try to get to all the pieces of art, and it has never been disappointing. Click here to see all of 2014's art.
4. The Music:
If anything this should be the #1 reason for going to Coachella. The first time I attended my mind was blown, every single artist I had wanted to see live I had seen in a matter of three days. I was hooked, not only that but I went home and downloaded the music of at least 10 new artists I had never heard of before. Now, as you may already know there are millions of ppl attending and once the main acts start playing trying to get close to the stage will be almost impossible, If you are a hardcore fan of someone specific, I would suggest staying in that stage at least 1 1/2 hours prior (whether you like the band that is playing or not) ALSO please take a loooot of water with you, the heat is no joke and is tripled when you are sandwiched between a million people.

5. What to Wear:
As long as you have Hats, Boots, Kimonos, and a bathing suit you'll be just fine. There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Ultimately, be yourself, if you aren't boho dont try to emulate that style, Being yourself is so much better, believe me. That being said, its HOT outside, so shorts, crop tops, a simple dress can save your life.
6. Where to Stay:
This one is probably one of the toughest things to figure out. If you are able to book a hotel (which needs to be done WAY in advance) I really love the Ace Hotel, and the Saguaro. Other than that if you are budget conscious you can try to book a hotel near Joshua Tree, it is a 50 min drive away from Palm Springs, so keep that in mind. I have found the best luck using www.airbnb.com or www.vacationrentals.com, especially if you are traveling with a group.
I hope you have the best time at Coachella this year and if we happen to see me come and say hello. or follow me on instagram to see it all go down: http://instagram.com/ycmayta
