Tucked in a remote dirt road near Joshua Tree is an outdoor art museum like no other. I had heard of this place, but nothing prepared me for the eerie feeling I got once I arrived at the premises. Noah Purifoy spent 15 years creating around 100 sculptures from what some of us would consider as "trash". The marvelous thing, is that although at times insanely quirky, this outdoor art museum is quite beautiful. The contrast of broken down chotskies, sculptures painted in white, and the very vast desert, sand, and cactii is simply marvelous. I was taken aback by a loud boom sound I kept hearing coming from the distance, I could see why some people find this place a little scary, but so worth the adventure.
"I do not wish to be an artist. I only wish that art enables me to be" -Noah Purifoy, 1963
